General

Do you have a studio?

Yes! I have a dedicated studio space called Grey Barn Studio, located in Newtown, PA. It’s set inside the barn of a beautiful 300-year-old farmhouse, offering a unique and timeless setting for your session. We’re also in the process of adding a charming greenhouse to the property for even more creative studio options.

How much should I expect to spend?

There are never any hidden costs! Check out our investment guide that includes all of our pricing. And don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions.

Do you offer payment plans?

We believe everyone deserves beautiful, lasting memories, which is why we offer flexible payment plans to fit a variety of budgets. We’re happy to work with you to create a stress-free plan that allows you to get the photos you love now and pay over time. Our goal is to make sure you never have to miss out on images you’ll treasure for generations.

How far in advance should I book?

We recommend booking about 3–4 weeks in advance, as that’s typically how far out our calendar fills. Occasionally, we’re able to accommodate sessions within a week of your initial inquiry, depending on availability. For maternity sessions, it’s best to plan for when you’re around 34–36 weeks along.

What is required to reserve a spot?

For seasonal mini sessions, you can book through our website—simply choose your time slot, complete a quick questionnaire, sign your contract, and pay the retainer to secure your spot.

For all other sessions, we’ll first connect to plan the details and select a date and time. Once everything is set, you’ll complete a questionnaire, sign your contract, and pay the retainer to officially reserve your session.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept credit cards, Venmo, PayPal, and cash for all sessions. Checks are only accepted from businesses; unfortunately, we’re unable to accept personal checks due to past scams associated with session payments.

What is a DIY session?

DIY sessions are occasional offerings at Grey Barn Studio, available when we have a set already designed and the space open for a short time. These sessions are a more affordable option, allowing you to book a time slot and use the set to take your own photos with your phone or personal camera.

***Please note that DIY sessions are not available for professional photographers or for use with hired photographers—those bookings require a separate studio rental.***

Session Detail

Can I choose a location?

Absolutely! We love when clients have a favorite location in mind. If it’s somewhere we’re not familiar with, we just ask for a little extra time to scout the area for the best light and photo spots. Clients are also responsible for any location fees, entrance costs, or required photography permits.

Can my pets join?

Yes—always! Pets are always welcome in the studio, and we love including them in your session. For on-location sessions, pet participation will depend on the location and their specific policies.

We just ask that you’re respectful of the space and let us know ahead of time about any behavioral concerns. If a pet causes damage or injury, the session will end and you will be responsible for any related costs.

Styling & Prep

What should we wear?

Can I bring multiple outfits?

Do you offer hair & makeup artists?

What tips do you have to prep?

Styling & Prep

What should we wear?

We recommend choosing outfits that feel like you and photograph timelessly—neutral tones, soft textures, and coordinating (not matching) colors work beautifully. Avoid busy patterns, logos, and neon colors, as they can distract from your images.

Be sure to wear undergarments that match your outfit so they don’t show through, and choose bra styles that stay hidden with your clothing. If an outfit wrinkles easily, bring it on a hanger rather than wearing it to the session. Also keep in mind that tight clothing can leave temporary marks on your skin, which may be visible after changing outfits.

Once you book, we’re happy to help with styling guidance to make sure everything comes together perfectly for your session.

Can I bring multiple outfits?

Absolutely! You’re welcome to bring multiple outfits. Just keep in mind that outfit changes do take time and will cut into your overall session time.

Do you offer hair & makeup artists?

We don’t have hair and makeup artists on staff, but we’re happy to recommend trusted professionals who can work with you for your session.

What tips do you have to prep?

A little prep goes a long way! We recommend clean, well-groomed nails (fresh polish if you wear it), hydrated skin, and “second-day” hair for the best texture. Bring along any makeup you may need for touch-ups, and if you plan to shave, do so a day in advance to avoid irritation.

Most importantly—get a good night’s sleep, arrive relaxed, and we’ll take care of the rest!

Editing & Retouching

What retouching do you offer?

Can I request specific edits?

Editing & Retouching

What retouching do you offer?

All delivered images include basic retouching—this covers subtle enhancements like cleaning up minor skin imperfections, adjusting lighting and color, and refining composition through cropping.

More detailed retouching—such as head swaps, object removal, flyaway hair adjustments, or advanced skin work—is available upon request and quoted individually based on the level of editing needed.

Can I request specific edits?

Absolutely—you're always welcome to request specific edits. While I can’t guarantee that every request will be possible, I’ll always do my best to accommodate it. If a request requires more advanced work, I may outsource to a trusted specialist to ensure the highest quality result.

Delivery & Products

How many photos will I receive?

When will I receive my images?

How will my photos be delivered?

Do you offer prints or other products?

Do I have to order prints through you?

Can I get the RAWs or unedited photos?

Delivery & Products

How many photos will I receive?

Your final gallery will include all images that meet my standards for delivery—each one carefully selected and fully edited. I aim for a minimum of one image per minute of shooting time, though most galleries include more.

Because every session is unique, I can’t guarantee an exact number. Factors like outfit changes, location changes, and participant cooperation all play a role in the final image count.

When will I receive my images?

For most sessions, your gallery will be delivered within two weeks—often sooner. More involved sessions, such as events or branding, have a turnaround time of up to four weeks to allow for the additional editing and curation required.

How will my photos be delivered?

Your images will be delivered through a private, password-protected online gallery sent directly to your email. Galleries remain available for 30 days from delivery, giving you plenty of time to view, order, download, and select your favorites.

Do you offer prints or other products?

Yes! You can order directly through your online gallery or schedule an in-person appointment for a more guided experience. I offer a curated selection of high-quality prints, canvases, frames, and unique keepsakes—including heirloom pieces like lockets and even classic View-Masters.

If you’re looking for something specific that you don’t see, I’m always happy to source the highest quality option for you.

Do I have to order prints through you?

Absolutely not! The choice is yours. However, we do not guarantee print quality or color if we do not print your photos. If you choose to print elsewhere, we highly recommend Mpix.com - in fact, when we send you your online gallery, we will include a link to order directly through Mpix.

Can I get the RAWs or unedited photos?

RAW (unedited) images are not delivered. Editing is a significant part of the creative process and ensures your images reflect the finished, polished work you see in my portfolio. Delivering unedited files would be like handing over raw materials instead of a completed piece—your final gallery is thoughtfully curated and fully finished to meet that standard.

Legal & Policies

Do you have a contract?

Can we keep our photos private?

What happens if someone is sick?

What happens if my kid/pet doesn't cooperate?

What happens if there is bad weather?

What is your cancellation/rescheduling policy?

Can I get a refund for my retainer?

Legal & Policies

Do you have a contract?

Yes—contracts are required for all sessions to protect both you and me and to ensure everything is clear and agreed upon ahead of time. A separate model release is also provided if you’re open to allowing your images to be used for social media, website, or advertising.

Can we keep our photos private?

Absolutely! Your privacy is important to us, and we will never share your photos without your explicit permission. A signed model release is required for us to use any images publicly.

If you participate in a model call, a model release is required. Should you decide not to sign the release afterward, you will be billed the full session rate.

What happens if someone is sick?

Health always comes first. If I’m unwell, I’ll let you know as soon as possible and we can reschedule, issue a refund, or—if available—have a trusted photographer step in to complete your session as planned.

If you or someone in your group is sick, please reach out as soon as possible. I’ll always do my best to be flexible when I can. That said, certain sessions involving location permits or hired talent (such as Santa or the Easter Bunny)—are more limited, and in some cases may not be eligible for rescheduling or refunds.

What happens if my kid/pet doesn't cooperate?

It happens—and you’re definitely not alone! I’ll always make my best effort to create a relaxed environment and capture genuine moments, even if things feel a little chaotic.

That said, I’m not responsible for the participation of anyone involved, and I can’t guarantee specific shots. Sometimes the most unexpected moments turn into the most meaningful images.

I do offer one complimentary reschedule only in situations where I feel I have not been able to uphold my end of the contract or deliver a sufficient set of usable images from the session. That said, rescheduling may not always be possible for sessions requiring location permits or those involving hired characters or talent.

What happens if there is bad weather?

Weather decisions are made by the photographer based on safety and the ability to achieve the best possible results for your session. If a cancellation or reschedule is necessary, you will be notified as early as possible—ideally at least 12 hours in advance when circumstances allow. In rare cases where weather changes unexpectedly, a last-minute cancellation may be required, though every effort is made to avoid this.

If weather impacts your session, we will offer a reschedule, transfer, or—when no other option is available—a refund. Ultimately, the final decision regarding whether a session proceeds rests with the photographer. If the client chooses to cancel, the retainer is non-refundable.

What is your cancellation/rescheduling policy?

Your session retainer reserves your date and time exclusively for you. Because of this, all retainers are non-refundable and non-transferable, even in the event of cancellation or changes to your scheduled session.

If you are unable to attend your session, the retainer is forfeited. For all non–mini session bookings, a new retainer and contract are required to reschedule.

Mini Sessions are not guaranteed to be rescheduled. In some cases, we may be able to shift your time within the same day or weekend, but if all available slots are booked, rescheduling will not be possible.

Please note that communication is essential—if you anticipate being late or need to cancel, you are required to contact me prior to your session time. Without notice, a 15-minute grace period will be observed before the session is considered canceled.

Late arrivals will result in a shortened session, as time cannot be extended beyond the scheduled window.

For weather-related situations, the photographer will make the final decision regarding whether the session can safely proceed. If weather does not cooperate, the session may be rescheduled or adjusted at the photographer’s discretion. If a client chooses to cancel against that decision, the retainer will be forfeited.

Can I get a refund for my retainer?

No. The retainer reserves your date and time exclusively in my schedule and is non-refundable and non-transferable under most circumstances.

In rare cases—such as illness, emergencies, or other acts of God—I may, at my discretion, allow your retainer to be transferred to a new date. Otherwise, if a session is canceled, the retainer is forfeited.

For Photographers

Do you offer mentorships?

Not in the traditional sense. Instead of formal 1:1 mentorships, I offer hands-on learning opportunities through workshops focused on camera use, composition, and lighting, as well as group shoot-outs and “tag-along” style sessions.

I also offer a more immersive option where I accompany you on your own client sessions as a second set of hands. In this role, I help with lighting, posing, and flow as if it were my own session—while also guiding you through the process in real time. Your client remains your client; I’m there to support, assist, and subtly coach you throughout the shoot so you can learn in a real-world environment.

Do you rent your studio?

Studio rentals are available at Grey Barn Studio. You can find more details, availability, and booking information at greybarnstudio.com.

Do you rent your equipment?

**Do you rent your backdrops and props?**
Yes—backdrops and props are only available with a studio rental at Grey Barn Studio and must remain on the premises at all times.

What kind of gear do you use?

I shoot with professional Sony mirrorless cameras and a selection of high-quality prime lenses. The studio is fully equipped with strobes for both in-studio and outdoor sessions, as well as an LED light wall for creative lighting. Have questions or want to talk shop? I'm always happy to chat!
